Overall, our visit to MacGregor went really well. Our team was able to work together and delegate tasks in order to capture a variety of angles of the activities the students were doing. We were able to guide the kids without getting too involved, which made the footage both authentic and easier to edit. After viewing our videos, we found that we were all very conscious of the lighting and achieved good quality.
Working with iPads proved to have its challenges though. Getting a good angle to flatter both the children and adults was difficult. Storage space was a major difficulty throughout the day. By the middle of our time at the school, we found ourselves having to delete content to make room for new video. We also may have filmed too much unnecessary activities, which didn't help the storage.
We could have improved our work by focusing more on the audio. If we had more microphones and set them up properly, the audio from the footage outside would have been clearer and easier to understand. Our group could have benefited from a clearer plan of activities. We did have a disadvantage, though, because the farmer's market was postponed; therefore, the plans shifted slightly. While we did well playing it by ear, we could have done better with a more organized system.
